PlayStation Portable (PSP-2000)_

The PSP-2000 is where Sony's original design became much easier to live with. Introduced in 2007, the “Slim & Lite” revision reduced the handheld's weight by roughly a third and made it considerably thinner without changing the basic PSP experience. The 4.3-inch 480×272 display and UMD drive remained, as did the controls and overall layout, but Sony made several changes underneath the shell. RAM was doubled to 64MB, helping reduce loading times, while video output allowed games and other media to be displayed on a television. The slimmer body also changes the way the PSP feels in the hand. Compared with the heavier PSP-1000, the 2000 is noticeably easier to carry, although some players prefer the original's more substantial construction. It also retains the large, bright display that was one of the PSP's defining features. For many people, the PSP-2000 is the sweet spot of the original design: lighter and more practical than the launch model without the screen characteristics that divide opinion on the PSP-3000.
