Thor_

Released in October 2025, the AYN Thor quickly became one of the most interesting high-end Android handhelds for emulation. Its main attraction is the 7-inch AMOLED display, which can be configured for Nintendo 3DS games without relying on the tiny screens found on the original hardware. Combined with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the Thor has enough performance to make demanding 3D emulation feel considerably more practical than it does on smaller handhelds. The size is both its strength and its biggest drawback. At this scale, there is plenty of room for comfortable controls and a large, readable display, but the Thor is hardly a pocketable device. AYN has also put considerable attention into cooling and overall hardware quality, something that becomes more important when the system is being pushed for longer sessions. For players interested specifically in 3DS and other demanding systems, the Thor makes a strong case for carrying a larger handheld. It is less convincing as an all-purpose retro machine simply because there are smaller and cheaper options for everything below that performance tier.
